Miller Defeats VES 93-89 in OT Thriller, Will Face Rival Blue Ridge for VIC Championship

2/23/12 - After splitting the regular season contests, Miller and VES met again in the VIC semifinals. As expected, it was a total dogfight where each team had an answer for every run the other had. Led behind Andrew White's 31 points, along with a breakout performance by junior Tony Washington (19 pts, 10 reb), we were able to get a hard-fought victory in overtime. It is a huge win for our program!!

Senior Chase Cannon sealed the victory with two clutch free throws with 3 seconds left, along with a couple huge threes in the second half to keep VES from pulling away.

There were over 20 lead changes, with both teams showing great offensive abilities. Our seniors, especially Janeil Jenkins and Devon Anderson, showed tremendous poise and leadership in overtime to come away with the victory.

The fan support tonight was incredible. Thanks for all those who were able to come out and cheer for your Mavericks!

We look forward to Round 3: Miller vs Blue Ridge for the VIC Championship on Saturday. The game will be at VES at 7:15pm. We need your support as we hope to bring another banner back to Alumni Gym!!

Highlights of this game will come soon.
