NBC29 - Thursday Night's Basketball Highlights (Miller-VES is the Feature Game!)

1/26/12 - Miller jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, thanks initially to Andrew White who singlehandedly all of our 1st quarter points - 21 - with 5 threes! It was one of the most dominant performances any Miller Maverick has done in the history of Alumni Gym and at the end it was Miller (or, Andrew White) 21, VES 11. Our crowd was going nuts and the gym was hoppin'!!

When VES started keying on Andrew in trying to slow him down, our other seniors stepped up big time and delivered. Chase Cannon hit a few threes and Devon Anderson and Josh Majors were distributing the ball extremely well. Cannon finished with 18 points and Anderson had a season-high 8 assists. Our unselfishness tonight in letting the game come to us was a huge reason why we had great success against a powerful opponent in VES.

Andrew White finished with a season-high 33 points and we never trailed, pulling away in the fourth quarter. Our defense was strong and showed our athleticism and is proving to be a staple with this team. This game also was a great lesson to show that when we are all on the same page and don't care who gets the credit, we usually play up to our highest potential.

We hope to carry on that lesson and enjoy a little rest before we come back at home versus Evangel Christian (Monday 1/30, 6pm). Hope to see you all there!!

Highlights from this game are coming soon. If you haven't checked, we put up some highlight tapes of some previous games - check them out by going to www.youtube.com/MillerMavsBasketball.
